On all of our computers, we have pre-installed software to help if you suspect your computer has a virus or some type of adware/spyware on it.
For Windows 8 (Scroll down for Windows 7):
On Windows 8, click the start menu and then immediately begin typing the word "malware" (without the quotes). On the right side of the screen, it will pop up with a list of all programs that have that word in it.
Note: If it does not appear in the list, follow this guide on how to install it yourself: Installing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. If for some reason this guide does not work, please submit a ticket or call us at 1-866-904-4332.
For Windows 7:
On Windows 7, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware can be found in your Start Menu under All Programs.
You may have to scroll down the list, but you should see a folder called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Once you select that, choose the option of the same name that appears. It should have a blue icon.
Note: If you can't find it, On Windows 7 you can try using the search field at the bottom of the start menu and just type "Malware" (without the quotes). It should update the start menu. If it still does not show up, follow this guide on how to install it yourself: Installing Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. In the event that for some reason this guide does not work, please submit a ticket or call us at 1-866-904-4332.
Using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
Once you launch it, if any pop ups come up, click Yes. These will keep the application updated so that it finds all the latest versions of malware. It is okay if you do not get this window.
This main window will appear. If the line that says Database Version says Update Now in blue on the right side, click on it and wait for it to finish. Then click on the big Scan Now button.
This process will look like its going to finish quickly but on average will take about 30 minutes to an hour. You can still work on your computer but you may experience a sluggish performance while the scan is active.
On this screen, choose the Quarantine All button on the lower left hand side. Once it finishes it should ask you to restart. It is very important that you say yes. If for some reason it does not give you a popup asking to restart, restart your computer anyway.
Now for the important part: Once your computer has restarted, perform these steps again until it stops finding things. If it stops finding malware but you suspect your computer still has malware/spyware of some kind still present, please submit a ticket on this site or call us at 1-866-904-4332.
None of this helped me!
